The Literacy Coalition is no longer in operation. Remaining funds were transferred to the Delaware Community Foundation. A literacy fund was set up to continue literacy efforts within the community. Welcome!

Delaware-Reads.org is the official web site of the Literacy Coalition of Delaware County.  The Literacy Coalition, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was established in 1993 to serve as a Delaware County, Ohio area resource and advocate for youth, adult, and family literacy. The Literacy Coalition is committed to the vision that all individuals should have the necessary skills to read, write, and speak English, with the proficiency necessary to solve problems, and to function on the job and in society.


Programs

The Literacy Coalition operates several programs to promote literacy among youth, adults, and families.  These programs vary from year-to-year based on the needs of the community and involve partnerships among vested organizations and/or businessesOur programs include:

  • Home Literacy Kits
  • Individual Tutoring
  • Literacy Workshops
  • Adult Basic Literacy Education (ABLE) support

How You Can Help

Volunteer

  • Mentor and tutor children in the (WS)2 program
  • Tutor adults to prepare them for the ABLE program
  • Sponsor a book drive
  • Join the LCDC Advisory Committee
